sunnyvale raiders parent code of conduct
1 – All elements of “The Raider Way” must be adhered to by Raider Parents. You are role models, and will be held to the same high standards of sportsmanship that we expect from our players, coaches, and staff members.
2 – Raider Parents must allow the Raider coaching staff to instruct their children during practices, games, meetings, and any other Raider function. Raider Parents must not yell out instructions from the sidelines, interfere with the games/practices, or talk to the referees during games. Raider Parents are to remain on the spectator side of the field (opposite of the players) at games. No exceptions.
3 – Raider Parents agree to follow the “24 Hour Rule”. If a parent has a significant complaint resulting from a game or practice situation, contact the head coach the following day to discuss the complaint, or to set up a time to discuss the complaint, in a mutually respectful manner. If there is a serious issue that needs immediate attention, contact the head coach.
4 – Playing time issues should not be discussed between Raider Parents and the Raider coaches or staff members. If there is an issue with playing time, the individual player must approach their coach to discuss why they are not receiving as much playing time as they think they should, as well as ways to improve.
5 – Raider Parents must emphasize the fun of the game and the team, putting forth their kid’s best effort at all times, and never criticize a player/parent/coach/referee/opposing team.
6 – Raider Parents agree that the Raider Lacrosse Program is here for the kids. The kids chose to play lacrosse and this should be supported through positive and uplifting efforts, volunteering (once per season minimum), and the value of good sportsmanship, the concepts of fair play, and the skills of the game should always be placed above winning.
7 – Raider Parents must always model poise and confidence, allow their kid(s) to grow as individuals and as a team, and allow the coaches to coach. Raider Parents must support the entire team – not just their own kid(s), be proud of their kid(s) and the team regardless of the score, and always remember that the needs of the players come first.
